Schoolgirl designs poster for fire station open day
A schoolgirl will be the guest of honour when Trowbridge fire station holds an open day on Saturday 9
July.
Leah Hill, who is 10 and a pupil at Grove Primary School in the town, will officially open the event
after winning a competition to design a promotional poster.
The open day will run from 11am to 4pm, and will raise money for the Fire Fighters Charity. Visitors will
be able to see all of the appliances based at Trowbridge, plus others from elsewhere in Wiltshire Fire &
Rescue Service, and there will be a number of demonstrations throughout the day.
Other attractions will include the community fire safety fire engine, the opportunity to have your
photograph taken with Fireman Sam, refreshments, a tombola, a bouncy castle and much more.
Station Manager Kathy Collis said that Leah’s poster would be used across the Trowbridge area to
advertise the open day. “We contacted all of the local primary schools and invited them to design a poster
for us. We had some really good entries, and they will be on display at the event, but Leah’s was
the unanimous choice of our judges.”
