Railway line through Trowbridge now fully reopened
A 200m cordon around a scrapyard in Trowbridge has been lifted, 24 hours after a fire involving an acetylene cylinder.
Wiltshire Fire & Rescue Service applied the cordon around the site in Drynham Lane after the cylinder was found amongst fire debris yesterday morning. Firefighters had earlier dealt with a car fire on the site.
Following specialist advice this morning, the cylinder is now considered to be ‘low risk’ and Network Rail has been given permission to fully restart train operations on the stretch of track adjacent to Drynham Lane. Two households evacuated yesterday will also be allowed to return to their homes.
The cylinder is expected to be removed from the scene this afternoon, when Wiltshire Fire & Rescue Service will stand down.
