BARN BLAZE
At approximately 0025 hours this morning Wiltshire Fire & Rescue Service received several calls to a barn on fire in Seend. Two appliances from Trowbridge and Devizes attended the scene and immediately requested assistance from two further appliances. These were sent from Melksham along with a water carrier from Pewsey.
Thirty Firefighters dealt with the blaze for fourteen hours using three main jets and compressed air foam to protect surrounding buildings and silage. The barn contained approximately 300 tonnes of hay and straw which were destroyed in the fire, along with an item of farm machinery. Firefighters have now left with scene.
No cause has yet been established for the fire and this is still under investigation.
