House Fire In Trowbridge
At 1300hrs today Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service were called to a report of a fire in a house in Avenue Road,
Trowbridge. The house was unoccupied at the time of the fire which was discovered by the owner, who spotted smoke
coming from the first floor of the house whilst he was in the rear garden.
The fire was located on the first floor in a bedroom involving clothes and shoes. There was extensive heat and
smoke damage to the bedroom and smoke damage to the rest of the first floor and roof space.
Fire-fighters used 1 hose reel and 4 Breathing Apparatus wearers to extinguish the fire, a mechanical ventilation
fan to clear the smoke and thermal imaging camera to check for fire spread.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation but it is believed to have been an electrical fault.
Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service would like to remind everyone of the value of having a working smoke alarm to
give all occupants of premises early warning of an outbreak of fire and allowing time to escape.
