Busy morning for Swindon fire crews
Wiltshire Fire & Rescue Service has had a busy morning in the Swindon area today (3 October).
Crews from Swindon and Stratton were called to deal with a kitchen fire at a warden assisted flat in Highnam Road, Nythe at 9.42am. Four breathing apparatus wearers and one hose reel jet were used to tackle the blaze.
Twenty minutes later, at 10.02am, crews from Swindon and Westlea were called to Carronbridge Road where a saloon car had been involved in a road traffic collision. A man and woman were medically trapped, and firefighters used small cutting gear and a vehicle mounted winch to release them and their three dogs.
Finally, at 10.04am, a crew from Stratton was called to a flat at Gladys Plumley Gardens in Gorse Hill. On arrival, they found that the kitchen was on fire and a crew from Cricklade was also mobilised. Two breathing apparatus wearers and one hose reel jet were used to tackle the blaze, and positive pressure ventilation was used to disperse the thick smoke.
