Warning about bogus road safety campaign
Wiltshire Fire & Rescue Service is warning local businesses about cold callers
claiming to be raising money for a road safety campaign.
The callers are trying to sell advertising on posters, saying that the Service needs
the funding for its road safety campaign in schools.
Road safety development manager Ian Hopkins said: “We are not running any form
of promotional campaign that needs funding from advertising, either as Wiltshire Fire &
Rescue Service or as the Safe Drive Stay Alive campaign. Anyone supporting these posters
will not be supporting our work in any way, shape or form.”
Wiltshire Fire & Rescue Service does not use cold calling to seek sponsorship or
promotional support. Anyone carrying out marketing activities for the Service will have
identification and a letter of authorisation.
