Christmas day fire
At 1804 on Christmas Day crews from across the south of Wiltshire & two crews from Hampshire responded
to an incident in Durrington. The Incident was a fire in a large detached property, from which all the
occupants had fortunately left prior to the arrival of the Fire and Rescue Service. Crews tackling the
blaze were faced with high temperatures and heavy smoke logging and subsequently had to withdraw due to
the unsafe structure. The fire was then fought from the outside of the building for reasons of safety.
The cause of the fire is at this time under investigation and crews will remain in attendance for
most of the night.
Wiltshire Fire & Rescue Service would like to remind members of the public of the need to be aware of
the dangers of fire, also the benefit of fitting smoke detectors and having a plan of action of what to
do in the unlikely event of a fire.
